The Film Music Institute in association with the Nashville Composers Association is pleased to announce the first presentation of the renowned Scott Smalley Orchestration Workshop, currently only available in LA and NYC, in Nashville, Tennessee, May 31st-June 1st, 2008. I have included a blog entry from a film composer/orchestration teacher at the Art Institute of Vancouver that says everything better than I could have said it.
The workshop will be held at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel (in the “Ryman Room” -- http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bnash-renaissance-nashville-hotel/) downtown Nashville, May 31-June 1, 2008 (Saturday-Sunday), from 10am-6pm both days. A special room rate of $169/night is available for Workshop attendees. You may sign up at http://www.filmmusicnashville.com. The Workshop costs $345, but if you sign up before April 20, 2008, the cost is only $295.

If you are interested in becoming involved in the NCA, please email Rolin Mains (rmains [@] bellsouth [dot] com) to be included in all correspondence.

We are always offering spots in our DIRECTORY. You can submit a short resume or bio and we will provide a link to your site. We will be offering spots to those with vested interests in composers in this area as well. So if you need a studio, a copyist, some musical equipment, or even health insurance, we hope that this part of the site will become an important resource for you.

Send a special thanks to Nicole Randall for her help in getting the site designed and launched. She has put in much time and effort and we appreciate it very much. Thank you, Nicole. We would also like to thank Unified Hosting and Design and Robert Grignon for their support of the NCA. The NCA is committed to providing a means of communication among composers in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. Let us know if you have a suggestion to make this web site even better.

We hope you will check back often to the web site to stay up to date on events for the NCA as well as events by FilmNashville, the Nashville Film Festival, and special events sponsored by any of you.

This is your community, this is your web site. Feel free to contact us with your comments and suggestions.
