If you would like to help out setting up for meetings or even contacting potential speakers, contact us and we will put you on the help list. Also, if you have ideas for future meetings, whether it be in film/tv music, composition, orchestration, technology, or something else, please contact us and let us know. August 20: Joseph DeBeasi, a Nashville composer who also works as a music editor in NYC, has done three workshops for us in the past. He returns from his exploits in NYC with stories and illustrations of his recent work with composer Philip Glass. Joseph will play exerpts from his work with PG, from the temp score, to what PG did, to what finally happened. Joesph's presentations are always informative and instructive, giving us all a very intimate look behind the scenes of how A-list composers work...or sometimes don't. The event starts at 6:30pm, at the Belmont Church Conference Center (formerly "The Chapel"). Call five-zero-four-zero-three-seven-four for more information. September 17: ScoreItYourself™. Download this video clip, and using the information given in the link, score it and then share it on the evening of the 17th. We will all talk about what you did and why, and you will see what others did and why. This is not a competition, but rather a unique way to see what others see and perhaps expand your approach to composing for film. October 16: The Harp - a symposium October 30: WPLN "Live In Studio 'C'", 11am "Improv in Nashville." Details to follow. November tba: NCA membership meeting/forum December tba: Digital sequencer shakedown November 14, 2008: Composer/film event @ Christ Church Cathedral. Details to follow.
Nashville composers are also encouraged to submit scores for the chamber group ALIAS.
